The 2 wire system reduces the installation costs dramatically, as cabling consists of just 2 wires and is therefore cheaper. The number of terminations are less and if the sound level is found to be too low on final commissioning, additional sounders can be added easily.

These panels are designed to comply with BS5839 and EN 54. The panel consists of two printed circuit boards; one contains the zones and sounders and the other the power supply. The power supply is rated at 2amps,'Monitors battery voltage and has a built-in low voltage battery protect relay to prevent deep discharge. The main board has connections for zones 2 or 4 standard sounder circuits, fully monitored, and remote evacuate or class changes, together with three auxiliaries, one for fault, one for alarm - reset on silence, one for alarm - reset on reset. It also has a full set or repeater connections, including remote evacuate, silence and reset. Each zone is monitored for open circuit, short circuit detector head removal using no more than a resistor at end of line. The zones can also support the new Fulleon 2 wire sounder which can be signalled from the panel to turn off and on. Each zone is separately fused for sounder operation. Failure of the fuse does not affect zone monitoring. As well as displaying all faults on the front of the panel it is also possible to isolate zones individually, sounders, auxiliaries and remote input, and also to perform one man test operation, all from the front controls. The panel is also provided with a number of internal switching features to enable, for example, 1998 (short circuit for fire) operation, zone I and 2 non latching facilities, delayed sounders and detector remove one man test operation.
