Hochiki CDX Range

The experience and expertise gained over the past 75 years by Hochiki has been applied to the design of the CDX Range of Smoke and Heat Detectors...

hochikidetectorsmall.jpg (4113 bytes) producing one of the most innovative and advanced product ranges available. The Photoelectric Detector, for example, incorporates Hochiki's unique 'Flat Response Technology', which in the majority of applications, removes the need for lonisation Detectors. Electronics-Free Bases, Disposable Chambers, Twin Alarm LEDs and Anti-Tamper Locking Mechanism are just some of the many features, which coupled with Hochiki's name, make the CDX Range the No. I choice for system designers.

Flat Response Technology

The CDX Range Photoelectric Detector has been designed with a unique 'Flat Response Technology', enabling the detector to be equally sensitive to a much a wider range of combustible materials. The graph below shows the response of the CDX Range Photoelectric Detector to EN54 test flares, when compared with current technology detectors. The overall flat response of the CDX Range Photoelectric Detector eliminates the need to use lonisation Detectors in the majority of applications. This makes system design easier and overcomes the cleaning and disposal problems associated with lonisation Detectors, The 'Flat Response Technology' has also enabled the detector threshold level to be increased, thereby improving the signal to noise ratio and reducing susceptibility to false alarms. This revolutionary design has been achieved without the need for adding costly heat elements and is part of the standard product range.

Installation & Maintenance

Each detector has been designed with a one-piece outer cover, which gives an aesthetically pleasing modern low profile shape. Twin fire alarm LEDs give 360viewing; the light from the LEDs is transmitted via unique light guides which is achieved by the LEDs being sealed on the PCB for increased protection and reliability. A common mounting base allows easy detector interchange and gives the user the option of open circuit or line continuity when detectors are removed; line continuity is achieved by fitting a Schottky Diode. A simple anti tamper locking mechanism is provided which is enabled by removing a small plastic lug on the back of the detector. Once locked the head can only be removed using a special head removal tool.

The Photoelectric Detector has a removable chamber which can be easily cleaned or replaced, hence simplifying maintenance.

Application

Photoelectric Smoke Detector

The CDX Range Photoelectric Smoke Detector with 'Flat Response Technology' Is suited to a wide range of applications. It can be installed in areas where traditionally both Photoelectric and lonisation Detectors have been used, thereby providing a simpler solution for system designers.

lonisation Smoke Detector

A CDX Range lonisation Detector will continue to be available in order to provide product continuity in certain markets.

Heat Detector

The CDX Range incorporates Fixed Temperature and Rate of Rise Heat Detectors, providing accurate temperature measurement. All the variants of Heat Detectors use thermistors and linearising circuits to provide an accurate linear response heat detector. The Heat Detector is used where high ambient temperatures exist in environments such as boiler and drying rooms and where Smoke Detectors are unsuitable because of the presence of steam or cooking fumes such as in a kitchen.

The CDX Range of Conventional Fire Detectors is fully compatible with all CDX Bases and existing Conventional

Mounting bases

A new range of CDX Bases has been designed to allow Line Continuity, Relay and Remote Indicator functions. The CDX range offers two options for Line Continuity, Schotti,y (Safeline) and Zerier- (Liveline), to maintain line continuity once a detector has been removed from the base, thus allowing Callpoints and Detectors to generate a fire condition. Control panel compatibility should be verified before either the Safeline or Liveline method is chosen. The CDX Relay Base gives the user a volt free change  over contact rated at 30V 1 A that will
operate when the detector senses a fire condition, and will reset when the zone is
reset. The remote indicator base allows the addition of a remote indicator to be
connected that will mimic the twin fire LEDs on the detector.
