The ZXa/ZXe Local and Remote Printers are compact I/O devices for the ZXa and
ZXe intelligent multi protocol fire alarm control panels. These printers, along
with other remote I/O devices provide a complete range of peripheral to further
enhance the functionality and expandability of the Morley-IAS ZX series panels.
Combined with the LCD on the fire alarm control panel, the printers provide
enhanced alarm fault recording. On a change of state, the printer documents all
the information on the LCD (the logical address and description of the point,
the status of the point) with a date and time stamp.
Two versions of the printers available:
· 40 character internal printer (ZXe only)
· 40 character external wall mount printer (ZXa and ZXe)
The 40 character internal printer can be installed directly in a ZXe panel to
provide hard copy print-out of the events at the panel. The printer and the
interface card are mounted on the door of the ZXe in the space provided below
the zone indicators. When a local printer is required with the ZXa control panel
the external printer option must be used. The 40 character external printer is a
self-contained printer with a built-in power supply and battery charger that can
be connected to both the ZXa and ZXe control panels to provide hard copy
documentation of the events as displayed by the fire alarm control panel. The
external printer comes complete with its own enclosure to house the
communication electronics and the back-up batteries and can be mounted on a
wall. The external printer can be driven directly from Port A on the ZX Series
panels when used as a local printer near the panel. Alternatively it can be
connected on the RS485 peripheral bus (Port D) to provide remote printer
capability. Up to 63 remote printers can be connected to an RS485 bus. An RS485
communication card must be fitted in the ZXa or ZXe control panel if a remote
printer option is required. When the external printer is connected to a master
or to a superior master panel, all events across the system can be printed on
that particular printer. When connected to a slave panel the printer will print
only the events indicated on the local panel. The user can select the specific
message types to be printed on an external printer using the printer
configuration jumpers.
