New AJAX Detector Tools Now Available from Firesense

The distinctive design of the AJAX detector head calls for a slightly different approach when it comes to testing, fitting and maintenance. That’s where Detectortesters stepped in, working closely with AJAX to develop a dedicated range of tools specifically for its EN54 detector range.

The result is a brand-new, AJAX-approved Test Adaptor for the XTR2, alongside a purpose-built Removal and Survey Tool for AJAX Systems detectors.

And now, both are available from Firesense.

Designed Specifically for AJAX Detectors

Developed through close collaboration between AJAX and Detectortesters, the new tools have been designed around the distinctive shape and requirements of AJAX EN54 detectors.

The AJAX Test Adaptor is designed to fit directly onto the Detectortesters XTR2, enabling functional smoke and heat testing across the AJAX EN54 range.

Meanwhile, the AJAX Removal and Survey Tool provides engineers with a straightforward way to install, remove and survey AJAX detectors without having to wrestle with the detector head or improvise a solution on site.

Both products were officially unveiled at The Fire Safety Event in Birmingham in April, where they were showcased on the AJAX stand.

With AJAX detectors attracting plenty of interest throughout the event, the new tools also drew attention from engineers and facilities teams who had the opportunity to see them in action through live demonstrations.

AJAX Test Adaptor for XTR2

The new AJAX Test Adaptor has been developed specifically for use with the Detectortesters XTR2, which we will stock here at Firesense.

The adaptor replaces the standard XTR2 membrane and attaches securely to the XTR2 cup, providing a quick and reliable setup for functional testing.

Once fitted, it enables engineers to carry out smoke and heat testing across the AJAX EN54 detector range, providing a dedicated testing solution rather than relying on improvised methods.

AJAX Removal and Survey Tool

If you’re fitting, removing or surveying AJAX EN54 detectors, there’s good news: the AJAX Removal and Survey Tool is here now.

The tool fits directly onto any Solo access pole, giving engineers a simple way to fit and remove AJAX detectors using a straightforward twist motion.

But it isn’t just a removal tool.

Use It for AJAX Detector Surveys Too

The tool can also be used when carrying out site surveys before detectors are permanently installed.

In survey mode, the detector is placed into the tool and secured in position. Engineers can then check the detector’s signal strength through the AJAX app, helping confirm that the proposed detector location has suitable connectivity before the detector is fixed in place.

The tool also allows the LED indicators on the detector base to remain visible through the bottom of the tool, providing another way to check the detector during the survey process.

That makes it a useful addition for engineers who need to assess coverage and signal strength as part of an AJAX installation.
